Description

Unwanted Objects is the new story and song show from critically acclaimed duo David Head and Matt Glover. They invite you to explore a mysterious second-hand shop full of old teddy bears, abandoned chess sets and ships in bottles. Combining bittersweet short stories, full of wit, whimsy and warmth, with folk, pop and blues inspired musical melancholia, it explores sentimentality, our possessions and the meaning we attach to them. 'Stunning' ***** (EdFringeReview.com). 'Sublime' ***** (LondonTheatre1.com).

I honestly can’t believe this show has a single good review, I’ve never been so bored and desperate to leave. When I thought it was over, another chapter of the story would begin!!! 0/5

Every year I visit the fringe I squeeze in a visit to ZOO Southside. 2022 was the turn for Unwanted Objects, a nicely arranged performance with such an intimacy and brilliant writing. Clever storytelling and witty performers, I could watch these two performing virtually anything.

This is an absolutely exquisite piece of writing, which has the potential of being one of the best story-telling shows on the fringe. Unfortunately, it was read, which lost a lot of the ambience – I found myself closing my eyes to try to restore the ambience. This piece cries out for a much more intimate delivery. I’d still recommend it as a wonderful piece of writing, but would love to see it presented as a more personal piece. If it could evolve to that it would probably become a staple of the Fringe for many years, as the concept and writing is up there with shows like “The man who planted trees”.

Stories and songs that are humorous, emotional and reflective of life’s experiences…… and unwanted objects.

Fantastic.

If there’s one show you must see at The Fringe it’s Unwanted Objects. Thought provoking, poignant and witty. A joy to watch.

This is a little gem of a show and a very good and gentle way to start a day of fringe shows. The stories are each delightful and come to form a complete whole over the course of the 1 hour and 20 minutes performance. Each chapter is nicely complemented with music and songs which help to complete the whole story arc.

This is a show well worth taking time to catch.
