Description
Two Tigers is a kaleidoscopic musical drama about New Zealand-born modernist writer Katherine Mansfield, who lived and died with the Furies at her heels and her turbulent love affair with John Middleton Murry, who ensured her legacy. Since Sue Casson's musical was first staged for the centenary of Mansfield's birth the reputation of the spirited short-story writer has steadily grown, whilst the man who brought her work to public attention is all but forgotten. The truly modern story of these literary pioneers is re-imagined for the centenary of her death this year. ‘Haunting original songs’ (Scotsman). Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. I'm a Kiwi and learned about Katherine Mansfield at school. Mansfield holds a place of endearment and esteem in New Zealand. How delightful it was to learn more of the context and times surrounding her creative work. The story was so well told - the performers accomplished and engaging. The original music was fantastic and I really enjoyed great female voices telling a wonderful female artist's story. Thank you so much Two Tigers - a festival highlight for me.

Two Tigers is definitely worth an hour of your time! A thoroughly enjoyable original musical with engaging songs about Katherine Mansfield, the 20th-century short story writer whose life was as exciting and poetic as her stories. Go for the history, stay for the well-executed production led by two strong female leads. Highly recommended!
