Description

Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. Spilled wine, sex and half-smoked cigarettes. Clothes strewn across the floor, food rotting in the fridge and bare feet dancing in the kitchen. Liv and Ruth are far from perfect, but they know how to have fun, and that's good enough for them. They don't always see eye to eye on things, but they do agree on one absolute certainty: they were made for each other. Trashed is a story of friendship, faith and f*cking up over and over again. But is there something more than just... this?

Loved this. Fab start to a day at the fringe! Funny, thought provoking and well-written, with four great characters. A bright and entertaining celebration of female friendship in your twenties in a really atmospheric venue.

The perfect Fringe experience for anyone who is (or has ever been) in their twenties. Trashed encapsulates the experience of young womanhood in sharp, witty writing, brought to life by four talented actors with slick tech and tight direction. The show's treatment of religion is nuanced and thought-provoking and, along with an ambiguous-yet-satisfying ending, makes this a well-rounded hour of theatre.

A poignant and thoughtful glimpse into the inner workings of a young female friendship. I thought there were some brilliantly witty moments, along with some convincing drunk acting, as well as some harder-hitting dialogues and monologues from the two main women. The two men added successful comedy and served as a vessel for the women to understand their stances on themselves and on each other, whilst not feeling like complete stereotypes. My own irk is the "I'm sorry" "I'm sorry too" interaction near the end, for which the cliches along the lines of "let's never let a boy get between us again" dampened the (I think) intention of a beautifully unresolved final scene. Technically, I thought the staging was slick, I thought the scene transitions were intelligent, and I think the lighting and sound enhanced without distracting from the all round impressive acting and very natural script. Props off to you guys for performing this material at 10am too! I would highly recommend this play.

A Fringe-like experience: A brick bunker, technics not all working, and still a convincing performance about four young adults.
A slice of life showing the power of friendship.

Best show I’ve seen at the Fringe. Hilarious, moving, relatable, and seamlessly performed. Could not recommend enough!

The cast of four appears to be enjoying themselves and it’s a solid Edinburgh Fringe University student play that’s a good way to open your Fringe viewing for the day.
