Description

Sex. Love. Lettuce. Join gorgeous clown Trash Salad in her quest for connection: a genre-bending burlesque adventure using lip sync, strip tease and song, on a mission to understand intimacy. Some call it a clown opera; a sexual odyssey; a compost-heap romance. Trash calls it a joyful queer-femme love story in the shape of a salad. Come and see the piece that's made audiences laugh, cry, and nearly piss. Created and performed by award-winning theatre maker Rosa Garland. 'Hilarious' ***** (TheSpyInTheStalls.com). 'A masterclass of clowning' (ThePlaysTheThingUK.com).

  • Additional information: Latecomers welcome throughout. There is repetitive high pitched sound when a video is played. Salad cream is used and can have a strong smell. There may be some anger expressed during a song number but it is comedic and not directed at anyone. There are just moments where the audience is encouraged to sing along with the song that's playing, whoop and cheer when the performer is stripping, or shout out responses to jokes, but audience members do not have to do this. There is a big song number, where the performer will climb the stairs up into the audience and begin the song at the top of the raked seating. She may sing briefly to individual audience members but will never come too close or stay there for too long. She may also go near the audience to reach the exit to the space, so I can throw a cabbage out the door.

Goodness me, she starts by waving her fanny in the audience's face and ends by getting naked with laughs and surrealness inbetween. Also a great joke about a boat and a lettuce.

Everything I hoped it would be and more. Your horizons will be expanded as you experience things that you have never seen before either on or off a stage.
