What a lovely way to spend an hour amid the hustle and bustle of the Fringe! We went behind the scenes and back in time at iconic Edinburgh department store, Jenner’s for this site specific work. In the charmingly intimate Boardroom we had afternoon tea and heard about the history of the store (and Edinburgh) from two costumed characters. The food, the theatrics, and the fantastic view across Princes Street Gardens are all splendid. Highly recommend!

Just lovely. A very nice way to spend an hour, learning about the history of Jenners while enjoying afternoon tea. It would be a travesty if Jenners were not able to continue trading it would be a very sad day.

Had high tea in the board room today with my daughter. It was highly entertaining and we both came away with a much deeper appreciation for the role Mr. Jenner and his store played in the development of this city. It made me even more grateful that this treasure of a store will continue, although it is going through another time of change. It would be criminal to lose this important piece of Edinburgh history. Thank you to both the delightful young actors who so graciously entertained us.

Jenner’s store in Edinburgh is an institution. It still seems lavish and prestigious today standing out like a Harrod’s among mass production outlets. An insight into the story behind Scotland’s oldest department store is back at the Fringe this year as Tea With Mr Jenner invites us to an audience with Mr Jenner, played by Sandy Queenan in store, in character and live in the shop itself. Limited to just 10 round the table in the original boardroom on the fourth floor we gain an insight to what has gone before.
