Description

Agent Blonde has 24 hours to save the world. The only things standing in her way are dastardly villains, an outrageous plot, and... a lack of funding. When Hollywood rejects her script, a frustrated screenwriter invites you, an audience of producers, to a one-night-only presentation of The Greatest Spy Movie (n)Ever Made! From two of the minds behind The New Musketeers (Trinity Theatre) and stars of The Play That Goes Wrong and Peter Pan Goes Wrong, Spy Movie: The Play! is a new hilarious homage to Bond movies and fringe theatre suitable for the whole family.

Spy movie the play was fantastic! Superbly written, it had energy, wit and the performance by the actors held the audience from start to finish. The different characters portrayed in this farce were classically cliche and had us all laughing hysterically in places. It was fast paced and slick in every way. Thoroughly enjoyed every minute!

I wish I'd seen this earlier so the review would have more meaning. But this is one of the silliest, but funniest and most clever things I've seen this year. An absolutely perfect send-up of the whole James Bond series - every pun perfectly executed, every ridiculous trope sent up.

Look out for this group in future.

We came to see this on the recommendation of a friend and loved it! So funny, talented physical comedy, hilarious script, great audience interaction - definitely see it if you can.

Our first show of the Fringe this year and it was an absolute belter to start with. Laugh out loud funny from the start to the finish. A great show - hopefully you get the funding for your movie - I pay to see this on the big screen!

Such a funny show! High energy, unadulterated silliness. Brechtian, in a good way…
Go see it - you won’t be disappointed!

Didn't stop laughing from (slightly before) sitting down to the door on the way out.

Give them a larger stage and they'll be away...

Very reminiscent of early Mischief shows, this madcap dash of spy movie stereotypes is full of puns and will have you laughing non stop. Brilliant use of props throughout. Highly recommended - one of our highlights of the Fringe!

Face achingly funny. If you like fast paced comedy and Bond films go see it!

My wife and I had the wonderful delight of making this our first show of The fringe this year. Let me tell you it was in no way a disappointment.

What a fabulous performance. A true and pure fringe show. Miss it and you will miss out.

This show was so silly you couldn’t help laughing. Picked up all the nuances of a traditional spy movie and managed to get them all in with a style that was so familiar yet so outrageous. A must see

Leni 21 days ago

An intelligent, hilarious comedy full of fantastic slapstick and silliness that's impossible not to fall in love with. Fans of Mischief Theatre will love this in particular!

Entertaining, energetic and lots of fun. We went as a family of 4 (with a 10 year old and a 12 year old) and we all had a great time. If you fancy a fast paced comedy budget bond this one’s for you.

Delightful and silly. Particularly enjoyed one bit when the cast were supposed to be driving, then stage direction appeared that they were in England. Presto! Left hand driver switched places to become right hand driver.

This cute moment was repeated throughout the play. Very entertaining!

What a laugh! A splendid jolly romp through silliness, the laughs just kept coming. This set up reminded me of the travelling shows that would come to our school in the 60’s. The kids loved them. This show is perfect to take round universities on fresher week. We certainly will look for this crew next year. A good solid fun show. Don’t miss it.

Great show from the very start! We were there with both 12 and 15 yr old girls, who really enjoyed the vibrancy / energy which the team delivered. Well done, an inspiration :)

Hugely enjoyable spy spoof that's energetic, inventive, hugely daft and great fun. Arguably what 'Shakespeare for Breakfast' does for Shakespeare, 'Spy Movie' does for the Bond franchise.

At last, 'Carry on Spying' has, kind of, a worthy sequel.

Great show. If you’re a fan of the Goes Wrong Shows you will love it. Lots of laughing out loud.

Paul Goode 30 days ago

Brilliant! Fast paced, witty, very 'punny', very clever with props. Highly recommended.

Mike Clarke 31 days ago

A marvelous show, very well written and performed. Hilarious physical comedy. I will look out for them next year.

So much energy and some really belly laughs. This is a really entertaining hour that the cast put their heart and soul into. Really clever moments and these performers have a great future ahead of them.

Marco Simion 33 days ago

This show is incredibly hilarious and perfectly crafted. Great script, clockwork comedy timing, physical comedy at its best, and above all a funny, talented and gorgeous cast.
But don't let me speak about the amazing FX! Totally worth of an Hollywood production. If you like comedy and espionage that's your show!

I've laughed from the first to the last second of the show (and even before it had officially started, you'll understand why).

DON'T miss it for any reason!

I LOVED THEM from start to finish. Sometimes I was laughing at myself because I definitely shouldn't have laughed, but I did anyway. It's just brilliant, they are funny and humble AF, the script is just perfect and the SPECIAL FX are phenomenal. It's just like the movies. Like totally. Go see them at any cost.

One of the most hilarious brilliant entertaining plays I’ve seen at the Fringe. Recommended to all Bond’s fans.

Steven Derbyshire 35 days ago

Very enjoyable slapstick comedy that rattled along at breakneck speed. Witty, funny and expertly handled by the 4 performers and their use of props was terrific. As the producer chosen by them on the day I say, let’s make that film! Go and see it folks.

Susan Paton 35 days ago

This is a brilliant show and we laughed so much our faces hurt.
We didn’t know what to expect, but the cast start the show off as you are being seated, setting the mood from the get go.
The amazing team take you on a hilarious trip through various Bond scenes, the improvisation for the skiing, car and train journeys are just so unexpectedly clever and funny.
The story revolves around a production company who are desperately trying to impress a potential producer with their amazing film, but they don’t have any budget, so it is (sort of) a play.
There are double entendres throughout the show, cleverly written and well thought out.
A brilliant cast, script and show, so well put together.
If you want to see something easy and funny, you just must see this show, don’t miss it, it is not just a comedy, it is so much more.
Go get your tickets for an amazing ride (and don’t forget the popcorn or sweets to impress the producer), as the cast don’t even have the funds to impress him during the show!
If you enjoyed the film Spy with Melissa McCarthy you will love this, as it is somehow similar and the same kind of humour (in our eyes anyway!)

The espionage genre is sadly much neglected at Edinburgh Fringe, however ‘Spy Movie: The Play!’ goes some way to readdressing that. Staged at the Pleasance Courtyard and starring a dashingly attractive four person cast, we get car chases, deadly train rides and a real life health and safety defying helicopter scene.
