Infectiously enjoyable !
We didn’t know what to expect when coming to see this lesser known G&S work
but what a joyous and entertaining two hours we had with a humorous tale about meddling with Love. There were exceptional performances throughout with comic acting and
some particularly fine singing. When the whole cast sang together it was quite breathtaking just how harmonious this troupe sounded. With a sublime piano accompanist as the foundation stone this talented society were so well honed and have staged another must see show. We did not want it to end.

This is a lively and entertaining show, packed with humour and performed by a talented company who are obviously having a ball. The sense of fun is irresistible, but the darker themes are also sensitively explored. We loved it.

Youth and passion of a Uni Troop of actors come together magically in the Sorcerer. Clever staging and customs meet passionate voices. A great night of G&S magic worth everyone’s time.

Scrap all scepticism about G&S. This was so brilliant. There is a reason people are at UstA. I will see it every day I can, please I implore go see it!!!!

A delightful and well done show. The singing, the acting, and costumes are so well done. The St Andrews Gilbert and Sullivan Society never disappoints. Do not miss this show.

The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of the University of St Andrews, who last year brought IOLANTHE to Fringe, are back this season with a must-see production of THE SORCERER, G&S’s first operetta. While judiciously edited to accommodate its venue and allotted time, the production is strictly faithful to the original score & script. It is in the creative updating of the visual dimension of the stage representation—scenery, costuming, choreography, mannerisms, makeup, body and facial expressions—that renders an archetypal tale (be careful what you wish for), of star struck lovers and doomed marriages, to be sadly and hilariously relevant to today's desire for instant self gratification and reluctance to continuously work for permanence. Don't miss it!

A wonderfully-realised rendition, from the costuming and lighting, to the superb singing and acting; all supported by a brilliant piano accompaniment. No performer outshines the other; the strength of this production lay in the cast’s excellent chemistry and unified performance approach. A must-see!

Absolutely loved it! Excellent singing and hilarious acting, not to mention the 1950s-themed costumes. Definitely worth seeing this one!

A delightful production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s third opera. Beautiful voices and acting- with hilarious antics, this wonderful crew gives a modern take on the classic without changing a word.
