Description
Are you truly satisfied with how you are living, or do things feel... broken to you? What would you give for a taste of new understanding? The debut one-man play by East-Asian writer and performer Chris Fung (as seen in Frozen, Cyrano de Bergerac in the West End, Evita at Regents Park), this dark satirical fable is an extended Buddhist allegory that deals with consumerism, mental health and existential crisis. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Like any good meal, The Society for New Cuisine leaves plenty of leftovers for thought (and, of course, consumption). Both darkly funny and poignant, Chris swerves the audience into jubilant highs followed by deeper and deeper plunges into the depths. Go along and enjoy the ride!

Thrilling, creepy, a slow burning brilliance.

The Society for New Cuisine was a quirky thought provoking performance. The main character engaged intimately with the audience and took us with him through his journey.

Chris is a hell of a performer - clearly incredibly skilled at working a room, holding attention, and charting the audience’s journey through this fascinating, dark, semi-mystical journey. Go see!

SFANC is a genuinely brilliant piece of artwork: the metaphors, character work and structure compliment the unique and gripping themes beautifully. Chris Fung is such a committed and talented individual if you are stuck for something to draw your eyeballs to a stage please come and see this!
