Description

After collaborating with Ed Sheeran, Bjork and Damon Albarn, the record-breaking beatboxer and Fringe favourite SK Shlomo returns with Surrender: a new one-man show charting his life-affirming journey overcoming grief, addiction and suicidal depression. Part wild gig, part devastatingly honest theatre, Surrender blends his innovative live looping and breathtaking beatboxing with epic synths, crushingly honest lyrics and lush electronic layers. 'Fascinating... Dangerously energised performing' (Telegraph). 'SK Shlomo squares up to depression with style' (Soho Radio). 'Extraordinary... It's a revelation' (Bill Bailey, ShortList). 'Slick theatrics and soulful vocal gymnastics' (Evening Standard).

There are several ways to talk about your anxiety and with Sk Shlomo's show I learned that beatboxing is also one of them.

Shlomo creates a soundscape using fragments from his own past and, sometimes, the audience, to form a story about where he came from and what he went through. Sounds that sound ethereal and alien at times will drag you through this experience. I thoroughly enjoyed this show - it's open and honest. And it has sick beats to back it up.

SK Shlomo doesn’t need to prove his talent by this point. With a long career comprising international tours, dedicated fans, high-profile collaborations and beatboxing titles, we can expect him to deliver. But he has been away for a while, and in Surrender he wants to tell us why. The audience...
