Description

Pole dancing comedian Siân Docksey (as seen on BBC Three, 'Joy and bewilderment in equal measure' ****(Skinny)) cheerfully ignores climate disaster, another recession and the steady creep of fascism to see if hanging off a stick can make you stop thinking about death. A brand-new genre-smashing philosophical dance-comedy party. And/or just a woman having an existential crisis on a stick, probably. Co-created with Jake Wood. Directed by Alexander Bennett. 'It's awesome and like no comedy you've ever seen' (FunnyWomen.com). 'Upsetting burlesque' (Audience review).

My wife and I were absolutely delighted by this show and wish our five daughters had some of this gal's moxie. She creatively uses her physical gifts and incisive wit to raise worthy issues for discussion and appreciation. Highly recommended to anyone whose rear end is not in buns.

Twirling around a pole every day of the month when most others are doing a week at most of standing still with a mic this year, Siân has definitely taken up an extremely difficult task this year.

It definitely pays off as one of the most impressive shows I've seen this year. As usual, I wasn't surprised to have laughed more often and more loudly at this show than any other this year!

An absurd exploration of existential dread through silly dances, the stupid genius behind the comedy always makes me laugh before we even get to the punchline - 5 stars, if that means anything this year.

If you're weary from all the Edinburgh hills, shame yourself into pushing on after watching Sian's incredible energy and ability to concentrate on the physical requirements of using the pole, without dropping a beat with the comedy.

Impressive, hilarious and clever! Siân really managed to take two things she is great at and make them both somehow even more awesome! Everything I love about stand-up combined with a fun energy that reminds me of good sketch comedy. There is never a dull moment in this show that managed to keep my existential dread at bay for a full hour! Can recommend to all Pisces Sun, Aries Moon, Leo Rising and to be honest anyone who has a sense of humour!

This is a fast paced show which is funny, serious and athletic in equal measure, one of the quirky gems in which the Fringe excels.

How funny that a show focused so much on dread left me feeling so happy.

The humour is rich and clever, as well as solid geeky fun in places.

She is playful, engaging and endearing, and has successfully combined her talents to produce a show that is as unique and entertaining as she is.

Endearing and puzzling in equal measure, this is a show that has something for everyone, but if you’re a millennial then the show is going to really speak to you. All that angst we’re feeling? Totally valid. And apparently, the best way of dealing with it is baring all in a dark room to a bunch of strangers. I’ll get my bikini!
