Description

A side-splitting flashback to the 16th century, where the Bard of Avon is holding auditions for his newest show – a pantomime. Can he deliver a career-saving performance in the face of treachery, where vicious rivalry abounds and people are not what they seem...? Filled with bawdy humour and featuring familiar characters like Iago and Portia, this show fuses classic pantomime with the works of the nation's best-loved playwright. So bard it's good! 'A must see performance brimming with humour and fun.' (Epigram). 'Joyous chaos' (Inter:MissionBristol.co.uk).

Good fun. Huge props to the actors playing Bottom and Iago, both really shone and the latter made the show for me.

Some excellent work shown really funny. Some exceptional performances and characters.
Would have liked a bit more "panto".
I recommend it.

3.5 stars

Amusing in bits but it felt a bit confused and missed the mark for me as the first ten minutes dragged about why the Bard needed to write a panto.

They said, the baddie was good at being mean and nasty, and the I did enjoy the panto Dame and also the Bard and Bottom were good performers.

Needs a bit more interaction with the crowd to get them booing and cheering like a proper panto. We like that... Oh yes we do!!!

Songs were fun.... but I was not sure whether the flat singing by some of the cast was intentional.. or if they are just better at acting than singing! Assuming it was trying to be funny (and missing the mark) or just being really bad... dropped them a

‪A brilliant show - thoroughly enjoyed it. It was funny, clever, ribald - everything you’d expect from a panto and more. A well deserved five stars *****

Side-splitting, laugh-out loud pantomime with a twist l All the usual characters, excellent songs, audience participation and some great Shakespeare references for the classicists. A hidden gem at this year’s Fringe and a great way to spend an hour in the early evening. Congrats to the Bristol Uni Panto Society.

A very funny, whacky and well put together performance. Vibrant, enthusiastic with amazing music choices and dance sequences to boot,
Thoroughly enjoyed the show and keep up the good work. Hope to see you next year in your next production.

The performers playing Will and Bottom were exceptionally good. Loved the mix of modern songs with Shakespeare references. Great energy, goodluck for your future shows!
