Described as 'the perfect balance of humour and heartbreak' ***** (Oxford Mail), this brand-new musical follows six friends as they fall in love and fall apart. Mel needs a job. Marc doesn't believe in love. Willow is addicted to yoga. Ben would wear a hoodie to the opera. Lily has emotional problems. Jordan might have herpes. Adjusting to city life, navigating complex relationships, figuring out who you really are – easy, right? Well, there's a reason it's called Generation Z. Because it can't get much worse than this.

Nice musical about a group of friends whose lives gets way too complicated due to their sexual relationships with each other. Not too particularly inspired, I also didn’t really get what was the point of it all, but entertaining.

Amazing actors, brilliant piano player, but the content of the script didn't convince me - trivial life story.

***** - 5 stars

Incredible new musical about a friend group of new grads tackling life. Think Ordinary Days but for British grads. Incredible score full of gorgeous intricate Sondheim-esque harmonies (I'm gutted there's not a cast recording yet) and a beautiful book that perfectly captures that life stage. Funny, moving and incredibly well performed. I've rarely seen a piece of new theatre that well polished in every single aspect.

I thoroughly enjoyed this performance! The cast are all so talented, funny, and conveyed what it’s like to be a twenty-something year old so well. It left me wanting to message my group of friends to tell them how much they mean to me.

Though we weren't originally planning to see this, we decided to after seeing and loving Don't Say Macbeth by the same company. Sex With Friends is, somehow, an even better production. Though both are hilarious throughout, while DSM is a pure farce, SWF has a real poignancy to it, and is very moving towards the end. The cast is universally excellent, and the show features great writing, brilliant new songs, and extremely well crafted characters. Sex With Friends is an incredible show, and we strongly recommend it.

It was AMAZING. I am gobsmacked; they were all so talented and I might even see again…!!! Every joke was delivered perfectly, and it is the first show I’ve seen to balance queerness into the musical to fully represent our modern society. Must watch!

This is songwriting of the highest standard, delivered by a strong cast. Talking between the songs is clunky at points, but it doesn't detract overall. An off-West End transfer beckons, particularly because that would allow expansion of some important elements which didn't get enough airtime. One of my favourite shows of this year's Fringe - 5 *****

5 star content that seems to captures the pains of university nostalgia and ‘getting older’

Sex with friends delivers funny, catchy songs with the likes of “I’ll Google it” living rent free in my head.

Highly recommend.

They say the shows you enjoy the most are those you can relate to and I can say that's true after seeing this one. We all know the battle it is to get a friend group to commit to seeing eachother! A smart and engaging new musical. The cast drove the story from start to finish. Not every song was a winner, but the ones they got right we're just fantastic (I feel seen by that hetero-normative song and honestly was in stitches, thank you Sam Woof). Well done all!

This show was genuinely fantastic, like Edges crossed with Rent! I’m genuinely considering going again?! Please record and release the score!

"20somethings in an enclosed space" is a familiar trope, but this take on it will win you over. The characters are relatable, full of personality, and more complex than archetypes. The dialogue feels true-to-life and is full of wit. The music generally helps tell the story, rather than just merely reacting to what's already happened, and even the occasional of-the-moment number pulls its weight in entertainment. (The sung commentary on hetero relationship pitfalls was particularly funny.) The narrative may not offer a grand resolution, but we're emotionally on board for the journey.

Brilliant songs (I mean properly brilliant - sharp lyrics, complex music)
great singing. The script is witty as f***
4 laugh out loud moments in the first song alone.
Great characters.
An absolute joy!

Simply superb - 6 superbly talented actor/singers with a very cleverly written script/ score. A late pick but probably one of the best pieces of music theatre we have seen at the Fringe. Go and enjoy, you will not be disappointed.

Mark my words, Sam Woof is going to be a strong voice in musical theatre in years to come, and I for one, can’t wait to see what they create next.
