Description
Having striven for a state of happiness and contentment her whole life, Poppy Radcliffe reached it after separation from her husband. For three glorious months the demon on her shoulder was gone. A little over excited by this newfound joy she slipped up and, like many a person following a separation found herself screaming her heart out in a police cell after trying to quash an out of control sex drive with rum. But did she really deserve to be sectioned? That was just the start of an extraordinary story told with her heart rending poetry. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. If you only see one show … see this one … Poppy poetically prises powerful purposeful pips from the shaken core of her terrible experiences of being sectioned and plant’s them inside you to take root and give you the privilege of perspective you’d have to poop your pants regularly for an otherwise more direct personal experience … Poppy’s voice and story are so powerful you’ll carry them with you forever

Brilliant, brave, thought provoking and silver lining humour to carrry the audience along with the stories. Wonderful poetry and spoken word, illustrating life's rollercoasters. Make sure you catch the ride before it finishes. Amazing.

"And then I thought my cat was the devil..."
Poppy's life has been turned upside down by mental health issues. This show takes you on her journey which is sometimes dark, and often humorous.
This intimate show is clever, challenging, and engaging. Poppy's narrative is interspersed with her poems which relate directly to the timeline of the narrative. She's wearing her heart on her sleeve, and opening the door to the chaotic world of mental health care in the UK.
See the show, buy the book, and come away with a different perspective.

I'm someone that isn't keen on poetry, however, Poppy's show was engaging, funny, sad, and interesting. An intriguing life story intertwined with original poems, 'Sectioned' makes for an hour well spent at the Edinburgh Fringe!

Poppy is eloquent . There are so many people who have gone though what she has without being able to put it into words. The poetry is very good and the show does have its funny moments but mainly it is honest and just very good .Definitely worth seeing.
