Description
Gays everywhere! Since Spring Awakening in 1890, the stage and screen has depicted schools as hotbeds of gay romance, passion, sex and joy – but also bullying, blackmail, trauma and tragedy. What is it about boys and schools that have encouraged same-sex attraction (and rejection)? School Gays will look at around 25 plays and films (including some lesser-known shorts) from the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, France, Germany and Scandinavia that have explored (or exploited?) these issues. How have sensitive issues about underage sexuality been portrayed? And how have the gays survived – if they survived at all...Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted.
