Description

A Saturn Return is one's astrological coming of age, propelling major life transformations. Think getting married or breaking up, finding your dream job or quitting. Saturn forced Natalya to learn life's big lessons the hard way. She's ready to talk – now that she can be funny about it. After a sold-out, off-Broadway debut in New York, join acclaimed performer Natalya Samee (Ars Nova, Brooklyn Comedy Collective) in this new cosmic comedy-turned-theatre one-woman show exploring love, the perils of interracial relationships, and growing up.

Slightly too relatable (ouch) but funny & wholesome one-woman play about ticking boxes in your late 20s/early 30s. Enjoyable and healing! Natalya is very talented.

EXCELLENT one person show, the best I've seen at the Fringe so far. Natalya is a master of comic timing, and it's expertly directed by Arpita Mukerjee. Such a wonderful examination of why interracial relationships can be so fraught, when the inequality is baked in from the outset. Natalya tells the story of such heartbreak but does so with humor, grace, and strength. So inspiring!

Saturn Return (***)
The daughter of Pakistani immigrants debunks her auntie’s astrological predictions by recounting her life experiences. This smart, well organized, financially successful woman uses PowerPoint lists of expected goals for a Pakistani to highlight how her real life has diverged from her parent’s. Her ease at spending money somehow belittles her personal troubles for me.

This is the 35th most enjoyable of the 62 shows I have seen so far at the Fringe this year. I hope to see almost 200. You may see my other three-sentence reviews, in order from most enjoyable to worst, at my non-commercial website: https://fringefan.com/
