Award-winning contemporary circus company returns with an extraordinary show looking at the hectic pace of today’s world. In a unique set design featuring a giant treadmill, four performers and two musicians mix dance, running, cyr-wheel acrobatics and original live music, while running almost a whole marathon. This UK debut for Runners marks the company’s fourth Edinburgh appearance following sell-out seasons in 2011, 2015 and 2017. Best Czech Theatre 2020 and 2021 (Theatre Critics Awards). Total Theatre Award nominee. ‘No wonder this low-fi, anarchic circus have been hoovering up awards wherever they stumble’ (Scotland on Sunday).

Interesting and energetic experience that combined personal meditations on time and speed with a variety of acts and dancing on the treadmill. Some evocative and some just fun. Resonated strongly with those who have a complicated relationship with time and chasing the life we want and sometimes leaving things/people behind. 5/5

More message than technique.

A show full of wonder. Thought provoking and moving, with moments of pure joy. Left us with a real Runners High! My favourite show of the festival this year.

Hands down the most magical show I've ever seen, there's nothing else like this.
Please see this show before it ends, the best live show EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!

This was amazing - the energy, the personality, the grace, the skill, the emotion - just wonderful! And such an original concept.

Beautiful, powerful, thought-provoking. Such good live music, singing and instrumentals as well. Standing ovation to finish. I will definitely see this again before the end of this fringe.

A visual treat but also Runners does have a story to tell, and a question to ask. There are also so many layers of metaphor and the result, driven by stunning performances, is really moving. You don't have to be a runner or any kind of gym-goer to appreciate the physicality and talent here. The teamwork is also really impressive, this feels like a very collective troupe. On the night I went there was a totally deserved standing ovation at the end. See this if you possibly can!

Brilliant. I’ve never seen anything like this before. The creative ability of the team to produce this mesmerising show is awesome. The physical skills, music, lighting and story telling was amazing.
We live in a world where we run and run and run with such little time to stop and stare. In this show we were able to see this speed hover in front of us as the performers twisted, danced and sprinted on the giant conveyor belt stage.
So clever, so entertaining.

RUNNERS was just an incredible experience. So much craft, detail, creativity and heart...encompassing athleticism, dance, music and the manipulation of time. I might need to see this again...just wow.

Such a life-affirming show! Completely unexpected and full of surprises, with the acrobatics and athleticism at the service of a deep message about time and humanity. Thank you so much!

5 STARS - Really good. Most likely it’s the only Fringe show that takes place on a giant treadmill. An exceptionally “moving” performance.

Mary Noon 44 days ago

A unique and innovative show - definitely a five star. The performers demonstrate unbelievable energy and skill, depicting the treadmill of our lives but also the positives and rewards of running. Beautifully supported by two wonderful musicians with original scores.

Powerful and poetic, different and unique - "Runners" uses all means of expression - music, movement, words as well as plenty of talent - to explore human relations with time and pace. A breathtaking show that manages to be existential and entertaining at the same time

I did not expect this to be the highlight of my Fringe visit, but it absolutely was. I'm days since seeing it and it's still with me. Congrats to all involved!

BEST CIRCUS SHOW YOULL SEE IN EDINBURGH and I’ve seen five this year so far.

Stunning show that combines dance, acrobatics, live music, the spoken word and even a little bit of puppetry to explore the human condition and our complex relationship with time. The performers are all hugely accomplished and move together with breathtaking skill. The standing ovation on the evening we went was very well deserved! If you like Theatre Re (who aren't at the Fringe this year, unfortunately), then this is definitely the show for you!

Cirk La Putkya may be a contemporary circus ensemble, but Runners is no ordinary circus show.

Four highly skilled acrobatic performers run, dance, balance, jump and more on a giant treadmill set diagonally on the stage. It’s an inspired concept with magical results!
