Description

The Capulets and the Montagues hate each other but Romeo has something else on his mind. He's in love with Rosaline and then with Juliet! The romantic couple are now set on the path to their tragic deaths. The masked ball, the balcony scene, the saucy nurse, Mercutio's death, the friar's cunning plan and the tragic death scene are all included in this hilarious adaptation with catchy songs, jokes and slapstick comedy. 'Good fun all round with an insight into the works of the Bard thrown in. Go and see it' (PrimaryTimes.co.uk).

An excellent performance from an excellent cast. The 10.30 time slot was a poor time for getting an audience in numbers, but those of us there were all up for showing our appreciation. Witty lines and clever references (including a few periods ones for us older folk) abound, which together with the ensemble songs and physical theatre made for a great all round entertainment for young and old alike.

Glad this show is still on as just worked out how to leave a review, and means I can go back before it ends!
This show is not just for children so although listed as a kids show, don't let that put you off. I've never laughed at a show like that for a long time.
It's not just thoroughly entertaining but it actually teaches Shakespeare in an accessible and fun way. Definitely a go see!

Fabulous show, what a talented bunch - all kids and adults thoroughly enjoyed it- and very funny too - would recommend it!

Wow!! I’ve been meaning to see this show for a couple of years and finally got to see it today.
A 5* performance by a super talented and slick cast. Fantastically funny, the witty way the story was presented had us all in stitches from my 4 year old boy to my 60 yr old mother. A definite must see for the whole family.

We liked the sister show to this (Brave Macbeth) so much that we came to see this show the next day. Could this one be as good? Yes, absolutely. Same cast, same irreverent take on the Bard ("ooh - that's a bit sexist"), and the same belly laughs. Gets you through the story at a brisk pace, helpfully pointing out the joys and absurdities of the plot. And, for perhaps the first time ever, Rosaline speaks! She's no longer just a simple plot device! Fantastic show - highly recommended.

The best family Shakespeare show at the fringe. Hilariously scripted, but retains respect for the story and standout lines in the text.

Fabulous faces! Excellent accents and not a crate in sight! Highly recommend this laugh out loud show for adults as much as for children.

Saw this today, and my 7 year old daughter says: "it was great, we loved it" - and this was a terrific show. Catchy songs, clever script and lyrics, funny lines - and a really great way to see Shakespeare, for adults and children. Very strong and really enjoyable performances from all the cast. Lots to enjoy about this show (Tybalt's accent and the Prince's train perhaps my favourite things, but so many from which to choose!)

We saw this show today and it was absolutely brilliant. One of those shows that works equally well for adults and kiddos alike. Fantastic songs (wow, those singers!) and hilarious script (kids, aged 8 and 11, were giggling through out). I might have paid more attention to Shakespeare in school if I’ve been introduced to it like this.

Went to see this with my eight year old daughter and we both thoroughly enjoyed it. Catchy tunes and plenty of laughs kept us both engaged for the hour. The young cast do superbly well and there are some very witty lines and great comedy performances. Well worth a watch.

5 stars! Very funny and a great introduction to Shakespeare. My 10 year old daughter loved it!

Romantic Romeo is an energetic musical version of Romeo and Juliet that our family really enjoyed.
My children are on the older side (11 and 15) but I would have no qualms about the recommended age of 5+ for this, and the adults in the audiences were enjoying it as much as anyone. If you’re looking for a show that the whole family will enjoy you won’t go wrong with Romantic Romeo, it’s a great family show.
