Description

It’s going to be a great day. That is until singer / songwriter / aspiring yuppy, Eric "Ric" Cross watches his life spiral out of control through a series of disasters and distractions – frantic phone calls, family drama, nagging friends and bureaucratic catastrophes. Through original compositions, impressive impressions and a hefty dose of emotional turmoil, Ric is finally forced to question whether or not he really has the answers to well... anything.

I saw Rise and Grind yesterday. Eric Cross is a talented, talented man. This is a clever piece of work. It reminded me of Dear Evan Hansen/Tick Tick Boom/Company. I hope Eric won't mind those comparisons. They're meant as a compliment. He's so skillful- writing, composing, piano playing, singing, acting, impersonating THROUGHOUT! . He puts his heart and soul into this show and it shows. The audience could clearly see this and clearly enjoyed watching. I feel this show has 'legs' and ought to be developed further because it delivers good material,
a good stage concept and left me wanting more of where 'Ric' heads next.... into musical theatre? Perhaps that is the answer he is looking for. Either way the theatre makers of this world need to look up and notice Eric Cross.

One of the best shows I've seen this year; funny from start to finish, with an incredible vocal performance from Eric Cross (who also wrote all the songs). There was really creative use of lighting, voiceover and graphics, it was ultimately a really professional and impressive show that deserves to be heard by the world!
And thankfully the whole soundtrack is available on Spotify!

This was such a delight of a show! It’s comprised of all original songs and they’re all so catchy - I went away desperate for a cast recording. It’s an irreverent and upbeat show and would highly recommend checking it out :)
