Description
What happens when truth, rage and purpose converge upon a metaphorical moon? A displaced narrator must face her past and find out. Led by a tiny spider, this darkly comedic, existential (at times explosive) solo play – told through 20 characters – uses flashback, magical realism and satire to explore artistic risks and rewards, the roots of addiction and rising to one’s purpose in spite of it all. Written in rhyme, Rise is a ground-breaking new work by Diana Varco (Shattered) bringing voice to the power of denial, transforming heartbreak into hope and finding courage to honour our worth. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. An open, beautifully executed show about overcoming seemingly impossible obstacles, ourselves. Her physicality and characterizations were outstanding and carefully crafted. Go see it!

Such a gorgeous, imaginative and raw look at the wounds that bind and free us, alike. An honest, creative performance that every artist should see!
