Description

The 15-strong troupe bring colourful, rhythmic, authentic local dances from Côte D'Ivoire (West Africa). Zaouli comes from the Gouro expressing beauty and joy; it has an important place in our culture and hearts. Tématé, inspired by the Kono dance, is a joyful dance from western Côte d'Ivoire (Man) created by the Wobés people in the 1960s. Tématé (more beautiful) tells the story of rice, an important staple, from planting to cooking and eating. It is danced by young girls wearing a cowrie hat and a wide leather belt with the dancers simulating the movements of the workers.
