Description

If there’s one thing that makes a hard worker, it’s desperation. Five strangers drown their sorrows after being interviewed for the same dead-end job. As the night progresses, the beers flow, a pub quiz commences and harsh truths are revealed. Join the candidates as they try to keep their composure in the heat of the competition. A new comedy about being a slave to capitalism and trying to not crumble in the face of rejection.

We came with friends to see this show yesterday and throughly enjoyed it.

A real laugh from start to finish, while totally relatable to our stereotypical society. The candidates known only as numbers 1-5 interacted so well and it flowed brilliantly.

The tale is about 5 people who have been interviewed for the same job and go together to the pub while waiting to find out which of them is the “successful one”. Well written, great humour, fabulous acting. Highly recommend going to see this if you can.

One scene was so funny that it brought the house into applause. Such a clever premise and incredibly polished execution. There was never a dull scene or a lull. Loved it!

WOW what a show! A well written and thought out play, one we can all relate to! Fantastic performance by the characters known only as 1, 2, 3, 4, 5! Excellent and funny execution by Isla and Abi. Me and my friend, I mean my friend and I had a great time, well done to all of you.

Be sure to make the time to see this show!

Thoroughly enjoyed the play. Wonderfully written script with very well developed characters. Brilliant comedic timing and fantastic performances by five very talented actors. Not only laugh out loud moments but also times where the dialogue makes you reflect on the reality of issues very much in the forefront of society today. Highly recommend.

The Rejects explores an improbable situation, what if you spent an evening with the other candidates that were interviewed alongside you for the same dead end job?

Joining them down the pub we witness the tension, fear, anger and desperation between each of the candidates in turn as their feedback rolls in.

A funny and real exploration into the emotional tension surrounding a cost of living crisis and slow job market.

Brilliant script. Pacing was terrific and the tender moments gave us a real view of each character. Performances were brilliant and made each character very real. Very glad I came and will be recommending to others looking for something to catch at the fringe.

Ridiculously well written from a newcomer to the scene. Well worth a watch. Hilarious & thought provoking dialogue which had you both laughing at the ridiculousness of the characters, and sympathizing with the reality of the job application process. So far favourite show of this years fringe.

The timing, physicality and characterisation is dead on. The dialogue is real, punchy and hilarious. The Rejects had me wide eyed and smiling from start to finish.

This show was a fantastic, in-depth exploration of why we go for the jobs we do. When 5 interviewing hopefuls all go for the same job tensions flair and abrupt discoveries are made.
This play puts the world of work in perspective and prioritises the things that really matter. Brilliant acting and a razor sharp script. 10/10.

A great piece of theatre from the original and brilliant script to the wonderful performances from the 5 actors. Funny and all too real time at times! Have a feeling this is going to be a standout at the fringe this year. Congrats to this young, talented and original theatre company for bringing us a fresh, funny perspective of rejection that we can all relate to!

Absolutely loved this show - stand out writing and performances from all. Genuinely funny, undercut with moments of drama and reflection. Brilliant fun, my highlight so far this Fringe.

Slay, iconic, the moment. Every character served and the writing served even harder. Chef’s kiss, NO NOTES

Richie Brown 49 days ago

Funny, relatable and nicely-paced comedy. Can see this being one of the big successes of this year’s fringe. Great script - a writer to watch out for - and five assured performances.

Thoroughly enjoyed - very funny and really well-rounded, believable characters. Excellent depiction of day-to-day rejection that many of us face in the name of capitalism. Would see again!

Caught the first performance of The rejects and was not disappointed. The acting and direction was excellent, by a talented young cast, and the script was clever, witty and relevant. First Class.....I'd definitely recommend this show!

5/5 Absolutely Brilliant!!!! A well crafted story, fantastically funny and superbly acted. Well done to everyone involved, from director, to writer to the five stars who carried us along on a hilariously and depressingly familiar look at the capitalist hellscape that applying for jobs feel like.

There are points being made here about workers’ rights, the plight of young people – and indeed the whole structure of society – but they are made as part of a breathlessly comic and cleverly put together play.
