Following the death of his predecessor, an established theatre producer takes on the most expensive Broadway musical of all time. Scripting issues, cast injuries, kooky creatives and rockstar egos all stand in the way of Redacted Arachnid being a roaring success. Based on a true story and featuring a satirical retelling of the first act, verbatim interviews, a multi-roling cast and hilarious dance routines, this is the play about the musical that went terribly wrong. ‘Excellent comedic performances abound throughout… one of the most enjoyable things I've watched all year' (Cherwell). 'A must-see' (Daily Info).

Redacted Arachnid (***)
This show follows the expensive development of the most expensive Broadway show in history based on Spiderman. The show provides lots of information about the troubled production starting from its first inception to more than 150 days of previews to opening. Though the timeline was fraught for the producers, since they are never fleshed out as people, this show never connected with me other than elaborate lecture.

This was the 61st most enjoyable of the 113 Fringe shows I have seen so far this year. You may see my other three-sentence reviews, in order from most enjoyable to worst, at my non-commercial website:

A truly amazing show with an equally amazing cast who work together so perfectly. It has been rehearsed to a T and the whole show is fantastic. The story of a terrible broadway production is told through an amazing Fringe show!
A complete winner and a real stand out in the shows this year! I loved it, huge congrats to the team! x

This show is absolutely brilliant. I am so glad that I got to see it and I would definitely go again, and see other productions by The Owlets.
What I loved about the show:
- It was very interesting to learn about the (true) story of the attempt to turn a successful comic book and film into a Broadway Musical;
- The use of comedy to tell the story was phenomenal;
- The physical comedy and the dance routine were hilarious;
- The re-enactment of the first act of the musical itself had me crying with laughter;
- The energy of the performers was superb.
Congratulations to the entire team for putting together such an enjoyable production. Thank you for entertaining me!

Absolutely superb. Sublime acting from the entire cast, brilliant storytelling and also genuinely hilarious. Also pithily and effectively written, and very capably directed. Up their with best student drama I've ever seen. Particularly good if you're an MCU fan! A must.

This show is worth staying up late for!

While I didn't get to see the source material on Broadway, I do know about the musical. Seeing a 'behind the scenes/documentary' play was unique and very good fun.

The acting was excellent, with the narrator really giving a stand out performance. I would have never thought he wasn't American!

Go see this play!

Best show of the fringe so far, hard act to beat. Talented, funny and spot on delivery! Well worth the ticket money, you will not regret it.

I had no knowledge of the story this told before going in, but myself and my friends were thoroughly entertained and intrigued by what was a hilariously written play about the failed broadway musical. Would highly recommend!

This was fun! Love a good show about a show - laughed out loud (despite it being the end of a long day...) Confident comic timing and parody acting. A little late night gem & in a characterful venue.

A brilliant, original piece of comic theatre. The energetic cast deliver entertainment at a pace that needs to be experienced to be believed. Great show - a must see event.

Within Her Words (4/5 stars) 99 days ago

Whether you know anything about Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark or not, this show is a load of fun. The performances from the entire cast are wonderful, and fully energised. The playful atmosphere spills out into the audience and never apologies for it's silliness.
