Description

1946. A pub landlord calls time on Benny Lynch, 33, World Flyweight Boxing Champion from the slums of Glasgow’s Gorbals. Down and out, an alcoholic – is he still 'the champion'? In walks, Gentle Johnny Ramensky – consummate career criminal, renowned for escaping Scotland’s hardest prisons, his expertise in cracking open safes and being recruited by the War Cabinet – is he 'a hero'? 'It’s a sad man that lives his dreams through another man’s nightmares'. Two legends. Two reputations. Exchanging blows in an intimate, poignant and bittersweet reflection on the hero and the hypocrisy.
