Description

Picture This is a new musical-thriller that follows stop-motion animation filmmaker Mary. Mary is obsessed with her work and the idea that her films should be seen world wide. When the figures she photographs come to life she takes it as the opportunity to finally achieve fame. Slowly, the figures begin controlling Mary’s life and all her decisions. Once the film is finished they refuse to let Mary release it and Mary has to battle between the work she has always loved and her own sanity.

The only way to properly review “Picture This” is to set the scene-

Picture this: an original piece of musical theatre, not based on any prior film, book, or intellectual property, yet a piece that opens the door for commercial success to saunter in all the same. With a book, music, and lyrics all by Elise Marra, Marra sets the stage with a gravitas of authenticity, poise, and wittiness backed by her very own ingenious show that makes the audience lean in. The future is bright for not only this show, but also for Marra’s own place among the great musical theatre writers and composers of our time.
