Description

A one-woman show; a brilliant and sometimes grotesque monologue which speaks to the neurosis of wanting to be healthy at all costs. Incorporating themes on the vicious cycle of industrial production of our food and societal obsessions over healthy eating, fitness, holistic lifestyles and believing that old age should be feared, The Perfect Body has received incredible reviews and sold-out audiences in Italy. Translated by Marco Quaglia, The Perfect Body will be performed by Savignoni in English for the first time at its Edinburgh debut.

An extraordinary 5 star performance. Your attention will be held for every second of the hour and the transformation at the end is as memorable as your fringe theatre experience will get this year.

Lavinia Savignoni puts the perfect in The Perfect Body! In an energetic, dynamic performance, she educates and entertains, shape-shifting, fact-dispensing and provoking thought en route. The one-actor show has great momentum and when the laughs were replaced with pathos, this audience member’s eyes welled up. A tiny venue meant we all had our share of eye contact, which I sometimes find awkward, but somehow Lavinia brought an intimacy to her interactions. And her ballet is fabulous!

I can’t recommend this show enough - I entered the venue hungry and wanting a burger. When I left, having seen the show, I opted for a tofu pad thai!

Another fab show at this year's fringe. How much do we really think about the food we consume? This one woman show is an emotional rollercoaster. Funny, manic, sad and thought provoking in equal measure. Go see it.

A MUST SEE.
The fears and paranoic issues of any human being living under the pressure of a healthier, richer, fitter, faster, and nonetheless hysterical life. Funny and deep. Entertaining and uptodate.
You can not miss it!

Lavinia Savignoni is the mastermind behind this self-penned dark satire. A poignant criticism of the current obsession for the perfect body, which entails punishing health regimes whilst denying eating as a pleasurable activity. Barely pausing for almost an hour, she only slows down in the last five minutes, when the lights are lowered, and the message is delivered.
