Rarely does a university group tackle such complex and sophisticated jazz arrangements successfully. Oxford Gargoyles are consistently on the mark. Very enjoyable show.

I had high expectations of this show as have seen the Gargoyles at previous outings at the fringe. This year's offering was not quite up to par. There was rather too much improv which seemed to act as filler. The first arrangement was stunning, but some others were less successful with one melodic line with the other members baa, baa-ing along rather than a fully harmonised structure with interesting structure and phrasing.
At 45 mins long, the performance seemed short of top quality material.
Choral singers are notoriously bad movers and, sadly, the Gargoyles are no exceptions to this.
I look forward to a newly invigorated presentation next year!
