Description
The sold-out NYC hit from award-winning actor Grant Lancaster comes to Fringe! Follow Grant on an outrageous journey home from the mountains of Thailand, all while handling an undiagnosed neurological virus. Alone, phoneless, and on a motorcycle with four of his five senses slowly shutting down, he investigates the questions: what does it take to survive, when does suffering begin and how much can our sense of humor withstand? Zany, bizarre, yet deeply poignant, experience the powerful resilience of comedy in this true story about solitude, karaoke and just... getting... home. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. One of the best shows I’ve seen this year! Grant is a powerhouse storyteller who instantly hooks you in with his physicality and comedic timing, and captivates you with his depth and heart. This is an incredible show, one that will stay with you long afterwards, and it is the kind of show that makes me love the fringe.

By far my favorite show from the fringe!
Amazing slick story telling, as a lover of travel and comedy, this show was had everything I wanted.
With so many moments where you did not know to laugh or cry.
I was fortunate to meet Grant after and talk more about his experiences.
I wish I could give more stars!!!!

What a fantastic show. Grant takes you on a wild rollercoaster ride, intercut with footage of his journeys. Brilliantly told story, and even though he’s obviously there, telling it, I was genuinely on the edge of my seat in parts.
Not to be missed! ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The most dangerous thing about this show is that it might trick viewers into thinking that all autobiographical one-man shows are as good. Full of physicality and snort-laughing, this man deserves a full house every night.

Beautiful show with an amazing message.
An incredible story paired with excellent story telling.
It's the last week of the Fringe, get out and see this show before it's too late!
A must see ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

One of my favourite shows I've seen all fringe. Not sure why he's struggled to get people in. The guy has great acting talent which is coupled with an incredible real life story that provides a hilarious, moving and memorable evening performance. Definitely get your tickets!

Funny and engaging story told by a talented comedian / actor. Enjoyed the switches between his own persona and the New York agent character, understand why he has to caveat some of the details in today’s easily offended world, but think it worked anyway and showed off his acting skills well. Interested to see what Grant will do next!
Read the Chortle review (as referenced in the show!), maybe the reviewer watched a different show, didn’t agree with any of it.
Five stars from me.

A brilliantly written show. Incredibly heartfelt and entirely based on a true story, literally every detail.
Grant is an animated performer and mesmerising to watch. The show is hilarious and will have you in tears of laughter. It will also have you in tears from the beautiful heartfelt moments of self-discovery and self-love.
Definitely one you don’t want to miss!!

One of the best shows at Fringe! Grant is such a powerful performer, and he's excellent at connecting with the audience. Plus, the physical comedy is hilarious. I was laughing so hard at points that the laugh-tears were streaming! The most amazing part is that it's all a true story, and the visuals coupled with Grant's charisma really bring it home.

This show with Grant Lancaster felt so authentic and personal as he relates his solo journey through the hinterland of Thailand suffering an unknown virus and being scorned by most people, including doctors, as he struggles to physically move & speak whilst trying to return home to New York.
He captures the helpless horror of the situation with anguish, anger and humour – the latter being the primary theme – resilience and life-sustaining humour. He draws it all together by reflecting on his personal insights and learning through this and his lengthy spell in a New York hospital being diagnosed and treated. A tour de force indeed!!

Fabulous, energetic 60 mins of entertainment. I laughed, nearly cried, and whooped. Grant managed to turn a totally awful real life situation into a comedy. He swings from serious monologue to comedic genius, with expert timing and delivery. Go and see Grant, you will not be disappointed.

Awesome show! A wild, epic story told with sincerity, aplomb, and great humor. Grant ran the gamut from embodying big characters to at-the-bar-Birbiglian storytelling to poetic catharsis. Beautiful, hilarious work. I loved his lawyer-disclaimer character, which added a level of self-awareness that really paid off throughout. You’re in great hands with Grant. See this all-too-real story first-hand!

Fantastic show! A rollercoaster of brilliant storytelling, humour and just the right amount of sincerity to make it much more than just a comedy show. Had the audience cracking up throughout, and also had me tearing up a couple of times. A true story, brilliantly performed. Fans of Mike Birbiglia will enjoy it.
