Description

On a High Note is a dramatic new piece of operatic theatre performed and written by award-winning soprano Erin Alexander. The piece explores how opera singers also became great actors; the tremendous highs of their career, and the costly price of success for performers. The story takes you on an emotional journey through the life of soprano Graziella Sciutti, a contemporary of Maria Callas. Prepare to be delighted as works by Mozart, Verdi, Bach, Menotti and Rossini are brought to life by Erin’s beautiful voice. Accompanied by Thomas Duchan.

Fantastic voice and charming presentation. An intro to the Greatest Operatic Soprano Hits. Like having Callas in your living room. Can’t recommend too highly!

Erin Alexander tells the story of Graziella Sciutti, the Italian Opera singer. Erin is an incredibly talented Soprano Opera singer and actress and portrays the story with passion and a touch of humour. Well worth going to see, you won't be disappointed.

Stop. Be Still. And listen to some opera. The Fringe can be so go go go non-stop moving. Someone handed me a flyer for On A High Note and I stopped in to see. What a great experience! Do your self a favor and go see this show. It made my day.

Really enjoyable show and thoroughly recommended. Erin is a fabulous singer with a really top soprano voice. She's also a very good actress and played a variety of operatic parts from operas by Mozart, Verdi, Poulenc, etc. with real flair, seducing the audience with her ability to take on various mischievous roles. She also bought out the highs and low's of a mid-20th century opera diva. Do see it! If you've a musical bone in your body, you won't be disappointed!

I find it astounding there are no reviews for this tour-de-force performance of voice and coquetry. Excellent. This is not a piece 'in opera', which may confuse people. It is a short drama piece 'with opera' interspersed. In many ways, it is the most accessible and joyous presentation of the art in that you actually know what is going on!

Erin Alexander told the story with great warmth and passion, punctuated of course by highly accomplished renditions of many great arias such as “Saper Vorreste” from Verdi’s Un Ballo in Maschera, and “Quando Me’n Vo’” from Puccini’s La Boheme, as well as the Mozart roles for which she was famed.
