Description

In a century littered with dynastic families and the parts they played in history, few names are as fascinating as those of the Mitford Sisters with their controversial beliefs, marriages and extraordinary lives. From Unity's great love of Hitler, Diana's marriage to Oswald Mosley, leader of the British Fascists, Jessica the communist who ran away to fight for the Republicans in the Spanish Civil War, and Nancy, a celebrated author, all four were bound by love yet divided by hatred. Oxia Theatre presents Gail Louw’s one-woman tour de force, The Mitfords.

I knew a bit about the Mitford sisters before seeing this show but I didn't feel that I knew much more when it was over. Having said that it's a bravura performance with each sister given her own character and (literal) voice by the solo performer.

A very strong one women play. She plays all 4 of the Mitford sisters (you don’t need to know their history to enjoy) and wow she does a great job. Thank you.

Emma has set herself a tough challenge, playing all the Mitford sisters.I was impressed with the show and her performance was powerful. A must see for Ed Fringe 2023.

Through tone and gesture, Emma moves between the role of each sister seamlessly. The Mitford sisters’ story is a rich source of material, and this snapshot of their lives is an entertaining and informative 50 minutes of theatre. Highly recommended.
