Description
'The only reason for time is so that everything doesn't happen at once' (Albert Einstein). If it feels like the past is catching up with us and the future isn't what it used to be, fear not! Comedian, songwriter and thinker of deep thoughts is back, clock in one hand and guitar in the other, to look and laugh at time in a whole new way. 'Well crafted, well sung, his songs are just plain funny' (Guardian). 'The country's leading musical satirist' (Times). 'Time you enjoy wasted is not time wasted' (John Lennon). Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. Benn mixes poignant stories from his life with observations about spending time wisely with well written, short songs in a way that I just loved. Whether it is dealing with his dying mother during Covid, or railing against the politicians, his humanity and wit are always plainly evident. I particularly appreciated his reminder that rather than repeating itself, events are often similar, but each is an opportunity for change.
It is early in the Fringe, and I have only seen 24 shows of the around 160 I will see. So far, this was the 2nd most enjoyable I have seen at the Fringe this year. You may see my other three-sentence reviews, in order from most enjoyable to worst, at my non-commercial website: https://fringefan.com/
