Description
Leitheatre’s 39th year on the Fringe features a brand-new adaptation of A Midsummer Night’s Dream, set firmly in downtown Edinburgh with a cast of locals taking you through the hilarious action from beginning to end. Will Lord Douglas and Lady Jane make it to the altar? Will Boaby and his band of am-dram misfits get to perform? Will Aeneas ever get his own head back? Will Puck eventually get it right? Moving the action from Greece to Auld Reekie, the Athens of the North, a new look to Shakespeare's classic comedy. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. A very imaginative, funny and energetically performed show! The costumes and scenery were magical and the small touches throughout the venue showed this theatre group's attention to detail. The show had to be stopped for a short time after the second scene due to technical issues with the lights, but was soon back on track and this didn't seem to faze the enthusiastic cast at all. Special mention should go to the actor playing Puck, who was completely immersed in this mischievous character and threw himself headlong into his performance. A thoroughly entertaining evening which kicked our Fringe off in style!

An entertaining show, aimed squarely at locals with lots of local references - not to mention the use of Scots language, which will leave a lot of visitors to Edinburgh completely lost. We particularly liked Puck!

I am afraid I did not "get" this. It is not often that I leave at the interval, but I did on this occasion. The other amdram events I have been to at the fringe have ben much better. It also suffered from not having staggered seating to avoid having to peer round heads.

Hilarious and spot on retelling of Midsummers with just the right amount of Scottish brogue. Beautiful venue with lovely hosts. Definitely worth a detour off the madness on the Mile to the outskirts of town.
