Description
The Fringe's favourite Frenchman returns for his tenth year with an exquisite new show and a live band to abuse. Expect wit sharper than a pint of English wine, poems sexier than an art déco brothel and jibes more devastating than an ill-judged referendum. Catch the Gallic symbol at the height of his imperial phase. 'Fresh, accessible, hilarious' (Guardian). 'Excellently dry' (Times). 'Comedy at its best' ***** (FringeReview.co.uk). As seen on BBC1's The John Bishop Show, Sky Atlantic's Set List and Comedy Central at the Comedy Store. www.marcellucont.comPlease note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. I hadn't heard of this character until seeing him a week ago at the Little Death Club. When I saw he also had a solo show I decided to go and see it. That was a very good decision the show is extremely funny.

Magnifique, still strong after 10 years at Edinburgh with a mix of poetry and songs.

I have seen this performer before at The Fringe and he never disappoints. This year he was funnier than ever and his off-the-cuff interactions with the audience were sheer brilliance. Don’t miss the chance to see him.

He’s been coming here for years apparently, but I’d never come across him before. So wish I had – funniest find of the year for me. He’s faux-French but you wouldn’t know – his accent and off-key grammar are faultless. And he wears French insouciance like a well-fitting YSL jacket. Drinking his way gradually through a bottle of red wine on a table next to him, with a lounge jazz band (who he regularly abuses) behind him, he succeeds in taking apart both British and French stereotypes in his side-splittingly funny routine. Adopting the mask allows him to get away with things he couldn’t otherwise, such as his sexist attitude towards women’s beauty, and ad lib comments to audience members (‘why are Northern girls born with no eyebrows so that they have to paint them on?'). In fact his ad libs are great – the languid manner and sips from his glass of wine give him extra seconds of time to refine what comes out. My new favourite comedian alongside Jason Byrne.

He's been coming to fringe for 10 years, why have I never seen him. Without doubt the standout comedy show for me this year. Best comedian I've seen for years. Definite 5 star show

Sheer brilliance. Why had I not heard about M Lucent before. The best comedy show of the fringe for us. Laconic, sharp, witty...comedy for those who think. Those in the other group...go see someone in a big tent
