Description

Mallets takes place on a prissy perfect croquet lawn in Middle England, as the most tranquil of summer afternoons is forced to pay witness to a bloodthirsty grudge match between two rival couples. It’s a ruthless, marital comedy that is both darkly funny and a little bit sad – all washed down with a good glug of Pimm’s. 'Fast-paced and entertaining' (Mancunion), Rex Fisher’s debut play strips naked the cringey and comedic woes of retired life, laying them out bare for us all to giggle at.

Philippa sits immersed in an Anne Tyler novel while Sam stands polishing, caressing,...

The Wee Review (4/5 stars) 89 days ago

When sports-casual clad Sam (Harry Fredrickson) starts the show polishing his balls and is soon after frantically pumping on the shaft (of his mallet, you dirty lot), it looks like this croquet-themed show is set to be an hour of innuendo-heavy sex comedy. It is a sex comedy of sorts,...
