Description

Is this a real knife? Is this just fantasy? Enjoy Shakespeare's spooky tragedy like never before, as six actors deploy wittily rewritten pop classics, uproariously silly comedy and multiple highly questionable props to recount the saga of Scotland's most murdery king. Expect queens and witches, Queen and B*Witched, ABBA, stabbers, and much more besides. With gloriously repurposed numbers from Broadway, the charts, and the golden oldies, Macbeth: The Musical is a hilarious ride, suitable for buffs and beginners, wee ones and wizened ones, and Scots and Sassenachs alike! No bagpipes were harmed while making this musical.

Saw the Macbeth Musical this afternoon...totally hilarious ! I was laughing all the way through. ... and for some reason, Lady M made me think of Amber Heard... An excellent show. Crazy funny.

So so clever. And so so funny. No knowledge of Shakespeare required just tissues to wipe the tears of laughter. LOVED it (& so did my teenage kids).

Brilliant show! Never laughed so much in one hour! Respect for the actors! Excellent performance. Thank you so much!

Very energetic rendering of Macbeth. The plot came over very clearly. Good songs, text, some by Shakespeare, set to well known tunes which worked well though the singing was patchy in quality. Our 2 Grandchildren aged 9 and 12 enjoyed it very much but found it too loud in parts

Wow! So clever, so amusing, just so much fun!
It’s what the Fringe is all about, performed by 6 brilliant people with great senses of humour that shine through- go and see it, you won’t regret it!

Turning a famous tragedy into a pop comedic musical might sound far-fetched, but the Bristol Shakespeare Festival have created a piece that manages to send up Shakespeare with obvious affection and understanding of the source material. This Fringe show is anyone who likes cheesy comedy, pop music and Shakespeare classics.
