Description

Crack out the bunting! Someone you've barely heard of has been doing something you're scarcely aware of for a reasonably long time. Award-winning poet Luke Wright tries to celebrate his 25 years of service on the literary frontline but ends up taking a deep dive into himself and the England that raised him. New poems on class, excessive consumption, love and adoption. 'Visceral, poignant and riotously funny' ***** (Scotsman). 'One of the funniest and most brilliant poets of his generation' (Independent). 'Cool poems' (Patti Smith). ***** (Stage, List, Time Out). **** (Guardian, Telegraph, Mirror, Mail).

Brilliant show by Luke. Both personal and political in equal measure. 1st half of show was a reflection of his life as a performance poet and the second was an examination into the effect that being adopted has had on him.

Without a doubt, the best of the fest. I saw him earlier this week and I fully expect to see him on Netflix soon. A brilliant poet, sharp funny, with great perspective. 11 stars

An excellent show. Luke is a very engaging entertainer, and his poems are both funny and moving. Definitely recommended

Saw him a few years ago and we were not disappointed to return this year. An entertaining show with him reciting his poetry. Checked every word of his single vowel poem (A) so clever! Tried writing a single vowel (O) poem between us afterwards ….
Didn’t get very far!

He seems like a good bloke, loved his poems and outlook on life. Our final show of the fringe did not disappoint. Go and see it.

If you haven’t heard of him, I’d recommend you search out Luke Wright, to my mind Britain’s finest performance poet.

Wright is, ultimately, a creator entrenched in the sound and feel of words, a love he leans into with a mix of boisterous energy, and gentle pathos.
