Lawrence Chaney – Overweight and OVER IT!

Comedy (drag, lgbtq+)

Description

Overweight and OVER IT is about the trials and tribulations of being plus size! Lawrence Chaney made history as the first plus-size winner of RuPaul's Drag Race UK. Growing up in the late 90s/early 00s, all TV and media portrayed people's bodies negatively. Now, in 2023 people think they possess no prejudice against plus-size people because they like one Lizzo song. Lawrence will talk everything from dating and exercise to having to buy two seats on a plane but only getting one meal!

★ ★ ★ ★ ★ - Fantastic show, well put together and thought out. Definitely worth seeing. Having seen Lawrence perform in small Glasgow bars to now sold out shows, It's been great seeing the progression of their drag career throughout the years. Handles the audience like a true professional with quick wit and humour. Hope to see Lawrence at the Edinburgh Fringe 2024.

My favourite show of the fringe! The whole execution of the event ran so smoothly and on time. Lawrence was incredible, the perfect balance between comedy and lip sync with a really meaningful message behind it that really made you leave feeling great!

As a big fan of Lawrence Chaney on RPDR, I had high hopes for this show and I wasn't disappointed. Great Scottish humour and very funny and clever lip synch material around the theme of the show. I was impressed with how well prepared everything was but also how well Lawrence improvised with the audience. Some of the comments to the audience members might have seemed mean, but Lawrence made it so funny, the warm personality shone through and the audience lapped it up! What a star! Well done Lawrence, hope to see you next year!

Chaney is winningly hysterical, with a unique everywoman charm that has made her a particular favorite of audiences worldwide, to say nothing of Queen Mother RuPaul herself!
