Description

Iceland – the safest place in the world according to the Global Peace Index – is obsessed with stories about murder, and Icelandic comedian Laufey Haralds wants in on the joke. In her debut solo show, Laufey uses her 'sharp comic timing' (Scotsman) to play around with Scandinavian stereotypes, impersonate her own parents and invites you to help create the next smash-hit TV crime drama. A comedic insight into what growing up in one of the most equal societies in the world does to a person's psyche.

'Nordic Noir' was definitely a change of scenery for me. Irish and Scottish comedy seem to attract me the most, but I never knew Icelandic comedy could be so good. The advantage of knowing Laufey is knowing she will spot you in the audience and make a witty remark towards you - which I always love. Laufey was spouting wonderful facts about Iceland, its history and achievements, and spouting water (literally). Every joke and witty remark she made had me tickled and laughing, so much so I had to make sure I didn't laugh too loud and disrupt the show. Laufey is great at impressions, humour, murder mystery and the 'noir' that seems to encapsulate Iceland. I'm tempted to go there at once!
I'm proud to say I know Laufey both as a friend and as a professional (though I know her as 'Pip')
She has a hidden talent that deserves to be seen.

We really enjoyed this love letter to the Nordic countries. A clever and charismatic performance - she’s a fact machine!

A must for fans of Scandi-crime porn or lovers of Scandinavia in general.
