Description

Queer feminist and bloody lefty Kathleen has fallen into a settled life with a nice boy who can do maths. As she struggles with what this means for her identity, Kathleen asks – what does it mean to be an independent woman? And who the hell is she to decide? From the pretty little head of Kathleen Hughes comes One of the Girls – a work-in-progress show. So You Think You're Funny? finalist 2021. 'Relatable material from a likably open and adroit performer' (Chortle.co.uk). A ridiculously talented comic' (Billy Kirkwood).

I took my friend to see this show on the recommendation of someone I know who had been, and oh my gosh what a laugh! My face ached at the end of it. Very on point with her comedy - covered current topics and gave a (sometimes slightly dark) humoured take on her life and struggles. I really related to a lot of it and would definitely go and see her again! She comes across as very warm and sure of herself and her capabilities, and that comes across in her comedy. It isn’t at all ‘try hard’ either - she is naturally funny and animated in her storytelling and I can tell she will go far in the comedy world! Go Kate! ♥️

A standout performance. Kathleen’s ability to connect dots you didn’t even see is both genius and hilariously perplexing.

Her takes on modern relationship dynamics? Raw and authentic. There's a bit about navigating life in the pandemic times that’s both heartfelt and hilariously relatable.

One story in particular, revolving around an early-morning wander, felt like a bizarre but perfectly fitting anecdote many of us might have tucked away in our own life stories. Kathleen's got this knack for taking the ordinary and turning it into comedy gold.

In essence, "One of the Girls" is a comedy journey worth embarking on. It’s fresh, insightful, and memorable. Swing by The Waverley if you can. You’re in for a treat.
