Description

Award-winning comedian Juliette is full of contradictions: pessimistic optimist? Introverted extrovert? Successful failure? Masculine or feminine? Happy or sad? Mentally ill or healthy? Why must we choose one or the other? After a year of huge change, Juliette had to redefine her life, labels and herself. Everything she thought was steadfast has vanished. Can she be everything at once? Or must we choose how we are defined? Sold out 2015/16/17/18. 'Burton drips with charm – joyous' (Times). 'Burton shows the world it's cool to be kind' ***** (Sunday Mail). ***** (Daily Mirror). ***** (EdFestMag.com).

When the performer herself handed me a flyer, and is as down to earth as Juliette, I knew it would be a great show. Go see this performance! Both Juliette and her comedy are glamorous.

Juliette Burton's new show 'Defined'.

I have seen her perform many, many times. This show was different, and I mean that in an entirely positive way. I have thoroughly enjoyed the previous offerings, and was happy to get something structurally more in line with those, but this really was a twist I didn't see coming. It's hard to explain better without spoilers for the show or talking unduly about previous ones - but if you enjoyed her shows in previous years, you will absolutely love what she has kept from those, and what she has developed into a new direction.

If you didn't see her before but though you would have enjoyed it, well - last year's show was called 'The Butterfly Effect' but *this* is the butterfly in comparison to previous caterpillar. Which, again, is meant in no way other than to indicate the degree of transformation that feels entirely logical and contextual in her style. I don't, for what it's worth, wish to put money on this being the end of this process - I think to do so would be to underestimate her grossly. If she wished to do future shows even more differently, she is entirely capable of doing so - and this show is the proof.

Never less than an 8/10, this is a solid 9 to anyone who can appreciate the process.

I first saw a Juliette Burton show in 2014.
I’ve seen everyone since.
This is the best one yet.
If you want narrative stand up with a social message, this is for you.
If you just want to laugh for an hour, it's for you as well.
Your chance to see a comedian at the top of her game.

I would define Juliette's show as beautiful and personable. Glittery fun observations and stories about some difficult life expreiences making the world feel more sunny. This show is my favourite so far this year and such a lovely experience I've actually bother to right a review to share it with you.

Juliette’s show was the best we’ve seen (out of 9-10) so far. Definitely check it out, you won’t be disappointed. It’s edgy, fresh and honest, something which in today society is a rare gem.

Absolutely loved this show. Juliette is a warm, engaging presence on stage who takes difficult topics and allows you to share in laughter about them. Her glitter armour is a fantastic representation of her comedy - it’s fun and seemingly fleeting, but you’ll end up finding it in unexpected places for days after and it’ll bring you a little bit of joy each time you do.

We picked this show after seeing posters of it and thinking it looked quite fun and uplifting...sadly not the case! I'm surprised this is listed as a comedy show as it has no laughs whatsoever. I'm sure she's a nice person but it seems as though she has a lot of things to work out herself that maybe she shouldn't be charging admission to unsuspecting audiences for.

Juliette Burton is certainly a hard working comic in Edinburgh. As well as performing the traditional hour on stage she is usually found for many hours each day engaging with potential audience members…even if most don’t actually recognise her while … Read More ...
