Worshipped opera singer... Renowned swordswoman... Flaming bisexual. Original, new musical telling the life and adventures of historical LGBTQ+ icon Julie D'Aubigny. Julie D'Aubigny is down in history as one of the most chaotic characters to have ever lived – one of the first public figures to live as an openly bisexual woman, she seduced nuns, dueled multiple men at once, burnt down convents, was bribed by princes, innovated opera – all before she turned 30. Julie celebrates this extraordinary life, queerness and carving a place for yourself in a world not built for you. Fierce, funny, fabulous!

I have always wanted to make a musical about Julie D'Aubigny but this show is so good that i dont see a point as i could not do it better. The cast makes the show they bring all the charecter to life there ability to changer roles and make them beliveable. This show is so funny that I was smilling though out the hole prefomance.

Punk musical about a bisexual woman living in 17th century France and did everything from dueling for money, to singing at the opera and f*cking a nun! One of the performers was awesome and played a lot instruments like saxophone, flute, guitar and castanets. I appreciated the ending that although sad, turned out to be about the power of who’s telling the story, kinda like Hamilton.

I went into this show with low expectations, knowing nothing more than it was about Julie D'Aubigny - but since Julie D'Aubigny is my personal hero, I thought I'd give it a shot. Imagine my delight when it turned out to be FANTASTIC! This show deserves all the raves, and I hope it gets them.

This show was an incredible! I just saw it, and I loved it! I laughed, I cried, and I danced/bopped along in my seat. This show is so funny, and also full of heart. The songs are incredibly well written and catchy, the staging is so creative, and the lighting was very well done and added an extra element to the show and to truly underscore the emotion and storytelling on stage. I highly recommend seeing this show! It was very well written, creative, and every single actor was awesome and so talented!

One of my favourites at the fringe so far- the level of talent from the entire cast is insane. The acting, the singing, the costume changes, the STORYLINE- everything you could possibly want from a show is in this performance. Incredible writing from the lead actress and thoroughly enjoyable performances from all- had us laughing more than we’ve laughed the entire fringe! I could praise this show until the cows come home. Just go see it. We might see it again. Totally worth it. Massive well done to all Xx

An absolute blast of a show—and the cast has as much fun as the audience!

This is one of the shows U specifically wanted to see so I knew it was going to be pretty good. Even with that in mind I was completely blown away. The songs were powerful and, even when comedic, were delivered with heart and soul. There was a lot of fun and humour (both subtle and bawdy), but there were also moments of poignancy and love.the while cast gave fabulous performances and seemed to be enjoying themselves.
I can't recommend it higher - go and see this show.

Not only was Julie the Musical a fantastic story with catchy songs but as a queer person it felt nice to show a story of bisexuality! I laughed and cried and would 1000% recommended this to anyone, musical theatre lover or not!

It is BEAUTIFUL to see a female-written, female-leading and female-directed play! Abey Bradbury is the next Rachel Bloom... she'll probably go further than that. She's not afraid to "go there" with humor and truth. I laughed. I cried. I jumped on my feet to give this musical a standing ovation when it finished. Our cast just arrived into town TODAY ahead of performances for "Lighthouse: An Immersive Drinking Musical" on Monday but we REALLY wanted to see this musical and it was worth the late ticket (even though we were super jet-lagged from a long flight). Five stars! I want to see this musical extended into a two act show and on Broadway. The shows in the first half were extremely catchy. The songs in the second half were extremely heartwarming. Bravo! I'm such a fan of every single part of this show.

Wow, I adored this show!! I laughed, I cried (literally) and had a wonderful time, I couldn't recommend this show more!
The songs are catchy, sometimes heartbreaking, and wonderfully written. All the performers were excellent, playing instruments and switching between a world of characters.
This show is headed for big things, so see it now!!

Julie: The Musical is a must see. The original music is not only creative but emotional and filled with passion. The actors were brilliant in their comedic timing and in changing between roles to fit each character. If I could I would see this play over and over again.

Saw the opening night of Julie the Musical and wow what a performance. This really is a show not to be missed!! Fun filled and lively yet with poignancy - I shed a tear at the end. The very talented cast led by Abey Bradbury as Julie are a sheer delight to watch - they work so well together as an ensemble - congratulations - you all deserve to go far.

With lively and energetic performances all round, and some of the cutest bejewelled velvet boots in Edinburgh, Julie is a treat for fans of this type of rough and raw theatre.

This staging at Edinburgh Fringe is an opportunity to see at an early stage a show which could well end up on a much bigger stage in the next few years.
