Incredibly brave, side-splitting and original stand up comedy touching on mental health, sobriety and … slotted spoons. Best stand up I’ve seen at this year’s Fringe by a country mile and a master class in not relying on out of date tropes and stereotypes to be funny.

An hour listening to someone talk about alcoholism doesn’t sound very funny but John makes this touching, relatable, deeply human and also hilarious in places. Highly recommended.

This show is going to stay with me for a long time. What a touching, human, dark and beautiful set. I hughly recommend it.

I have never felt anything walking away from a comedy show as wrenching as Howl. Yet it might be one of the funniest shows I have ever seen, quite possibly the best.

I can get on board with introspection when it’s as well-crafted as Howl.
