Wouldn’t recommend. Overall very strange performance and would warn anyone with a normal sense of humour to stay away. 1 star from me unfortunately. £12 back please.

How do you follow a series of shows where literally anything could happen and usually the most unpredictable of things did? John-Luke Roberts has come up with a winning answer to that question: you literally publish the punchline to every joke that’s coming and leave the audience wondering how on Earth your set ups are going to coalesce into each of the punchlines. It’s a brilliant and perhaps unique conceit, as usually giving away the punchline is the fastest way to ruin a joke. It’s a testament to the sheer anarchy of his joke construction and surrealist humour that he can do this and the show is still hilarious. And, weirdly, unpredictable.
If you enjoyed the utter lunacy of his vampire character and those wild, weird & wonderful shows, you will still love this, even though it has the form, if not the content, of normal stand up. It is relentlessly inventive, Pythonic in both its unapologetic intellectualism and its absurdity, fully aware of its own pretentiousness and just really, achingly funny.

Welcomed as a homecoming hero, John-Luke gives us a non-stop hour of unremitting daftness with a sort of plot hanging on in there. Not all of it works, but if you're on his wavelength there's lot to enjoy.

Having seen JLR more than once, his absurd, zany humour never fails to disappoint...he has funny bones.

I didn’t know before this wild ride of a show that I am a big fan of absurdist-sketch-stand-up but it turns out it is very much my bag - what clever, unusual, engaging fun this is. A couple of the recurring gags slightly outstay their welcome, but the stand-out extended sketches expertly woven together more than make up for it - I couldn’t breathe for laughing more than once. Looking forward to more technicolored-moustachioed madness next year...!
