John Hastings: Do You Have Any Ointment My John Hastings

Comedy (stand-up)

  • Babes in arms policy: Babies are not allowed in the venue
  • Policy applies to: Children under 2 years

Description

John Hastings has had to deal with the shit life has thrown at him since 2019… He got a divorce during Covid, his best friend got a terminal diagnosis, he got bed bugs, he nearly got his arm amputated and he did a massive poo in his pants. He has been on telly though: BBC Three if that counts? Oh and... America's Got Talent! ‘Go see him now!’ **** (Herald). ‘Pleasure to watch’ **** (Times). 'Good anecdotes skilfully told by a performer with presence' **** (Chortle.co.uk).

Best show I saw at Fringe. A lot of energy, good jokes, superb crowd work, emotional sometimes, perfect act out.

Brilliantly written and delivered hour, John is a real master of the craft. You probably won't find a better comedy show at the Fringe.

One of the best 60 minutes of stand-up I've seen this year. An absolutely hilarious hour that just flew by. Great gags with moments of genuine emotion that don't feel ham-fisted in. His crowd work and ad-libs are so sharp that it's hard to believe they're off the cuff, especially as he weaves it seamlessly back into the main narrative.

One of the best things I saw at the fringe this year - John has an incredibly tight hour during which he weaves a cohesive story that will have you laughing till it hurts. Highly recommend going to this if you can!

I have not laughed so hard in a very long time and Hastings just kills it. Fantastic to watch and his delivery is just *chef kiss*. Truly and honestly a must see

The anecdotes, the funny laugh out loud material, often self-deprecating were of an incredibly high standard, the guy had obviously worked hard on putting it together

A surprisingly touching show that deftly treads the line between puerile, crass and emotional.
