Description
The clock ticks towards zero. On the sidelines cheerleaders whip the crowd into a frenzied chant of 'USA! USA! USA!' The hot-dog stand sizzles next to the jumbotron. On the field, Jacob steps up to throw the final Hail Mary touchdown. Everything comes down to this. Jacob Hatton is a dyspraxic, 30-something, British stand-up with one dream – to score the winning touchdown in the dying seconds of an American football movie. 'Endorphin milking titterfest' **** (MumbleComedy.net). 'Attuned to the human psyche' (BroadwayBaby.com). If Jacob never makes the touchdown play he dreamt of, he can keep comforted from now owning one of the sharpest, snappiest, wittiest, lewdest, and (crucially) funniest shows of this year's Fringe.
Touchdown! collides American ambition culture with dour British pragmatism to catalyse resonant and original observational comedy that kept me howling the whole while I was there.
The show gallops between the softly personal to the deliberately silly (far more of the latter) with Hatton's confidence and quick tongue ensuring the pace never slouches, sewn up by engaging audience participation throughout.
A standout festival pick that never drops the ball.

Some really truly excellent lines in this well crafted and enjoyable show. Caught Jacob a few times over the years and he’s really found his footing with this latest show. Go see!!

"Your dog is ableist"
Probably one of the funniest moments of the entire fringe for me. Jacob is silly, energetic and excellent at successfully maintaining a tangible storyline whilst dipping in and out with crowd work. One to watch.

An hour of silliness - no ulterior motive or thinly veiled political message, just pure entertainment. Excellent crowd work, fostering participation and engagement rather than exploiting anyone for a laugh. Nothing’s taken too seriously, everyone is just working towards helping Jacob achieve his dream.
