King’s Counsel. MP for Edinburgh Southwest. Chair, UK Parliament’s Joint Committee on Human Rights. SNP Spokesperson, Justice and Home Affairs 2015-2021. Led the successful 2019 Cherry Case against Boris Johnson’s unlawful prorogation of the UK Parliament. Co-litigant in the case against the UK Government at the EU Court of Justice, which established that Article 50 could be unilaterally revoked. Called to the bar in 1995, took silk in 2009. Standing Junior Counsel to the Scottish Government 2003-2008. Crown Counsel 2008-2011. General venue access
- Accessible entry: There is a temporary ramp over the 8 steep stone steps from street level to the venue foyer. The ramp has a small turning circle of 1m and therefore unfortunately is not suitable for an electric wheelchair user. Once inside the venue foyer, stall seating is accessible without any further assistance. Staff are happy to assist where possible and are unable to assist electric wheelchair users.
