Description

Prolific writer and broadcaster whose interests include the Scots language and the historic Scots diaspora across the world. His acclaimed book The Mither Tongue was adapted for television and is cited as a catalyst for the revived expression of Scots in modern day Scotland. Kay’s Odyssey series for BBC Radio Scotland – about the diverse Scots experience – was met with admiration. In 2022, he gave an oration to the Scottish parliament in the mither tongue. An Ayrshireman, Billy lives in Tayside. An admirer of the city of Dundee and a passionate Dundee United supporter.

General venue access

  • Accessible entry: There is a temporary ramp over the 8 steep stone steps from street level to the venue foyer. The ramp has a small turning circle of 1m and therefore unfortunately is not suitable for an electric wheelchair user. Once inside the venue foyer, stall seating is accessible without any further assistance. Staff are happy to assist where possible and are unable to assist electric wheelchair users.

    Number of stairs is provided as guidance and is not in addition to any wheelchair access type (lift/ramp etc) stated above.

How and when to make an access booking

Our access tickets service is available to anyone who:

  • Would like to book specific accessibility services, e.g. a hearing loop, audio description headsets, captioning units, seating in relation to the location of the BSL interpreter
  • Requires extra assistance when at a venue
  • Has specific seating requirements
  • Is a wheelchair user
  • Requires a complimentary personal assistant ticket to attend a performance
