Description

Flitting between romantic obsession and botanical description, this semi-autobiographical piece by Raymond Wilson offers a raw, moving and genuinely humorous exploration of healthy masculinity, self-worth and working-class access to nature. Through his friendship with Flo and her modern nomadic lifestyle, Raymond attempts to escape the greyness of the Glasgow scheme into Scotland's natural world, with some unflinching self-reflection along the way. Directed by Fiona Mackinnon. Part of the Made in Scotland Showcase. Developed through the Village Storytelling Festival 2022. 'Whimsically superb blending of spoken word and comedy' **** (CorrBlimey.uk). MadeInScotlandShowcase.com

Raymond's show had us hooked from start to finish. Laughter, tears and coming away thinking about what we give and take from our relationships with others. A show not to miss.

Absolutely fantastic. A lovely portrayal of masculinity in a context I've never seen before. The words were captivating and the story compelling. You have to see this.

A lovely show. An important monologue of masculine fragility and mental health, through the lens of botanical metaphor

This is a delightful storytelling experience, expertly written and performed by Raymond Wilson. It ties in themes surrounding masculinity and working class access to green spaces, as well as navigating relationships with both people and nature. Very refreshing and a real triumph.

A great show. Very moving portrayal of masculine fragility and the clash between societies expectations and reality, through the lens of botanical metaphor and Glasgow accent

A brave and moving piece that gets into the much unexplored territory of healthy masculinity within the Scottish working class. Raymond is a warm, charismatic and very funny performer and who carries you along from the very start. A wonderful show.

A lyrical, grounded poetic tale about love, lockdown and nature. A poignant monologue on the human condition deftly delivered with energy and charisma. Highly recommended!

This is a refreshing, honest and well written gem! Raymond invites the audience to make sense, as he does, of his inner turmoil and self recriminations, set against the back drop of covid restrictions, inner city life and love of nature. A sensitive and uplifting piece of theatre.
