Attended Aunty Gingers show on the 6th and I can say is two words "I Consent" Aunty put on a brilliant show and knows how to work a crowd with they're adventous stories and getting the audience involved with their own dilemmas and encounters as well as a camp sing a long. Couldn't stop smiling from laughing what a talent.

This show is not for the faint-hearted or easily offended. And that’s a good thing. I Consent is an utterly outrageous, and hilariously entertaining hour of drag-show comedy. Aunty Ginger has excellent stage presence from the second she introduces herself with a parody of ‘(Hey) Big Spender’. You may be able to guess what word she replaced ‘Spender’ with…
I won’t pretend I’m an expert in drag styling and fashion, but I was incredibly impressed by her make-up, fabulous ginger wig and matching jewellery. The dress, designed by Peter Hewitt, was black and tight. Perfect for the occasion. In short, Aunty Ginger looked spectacular.
I won’t spoil the contents of her show, but it includes an Agony Aunt style segment where she solves the sex life problems of ‘famous celebrities’ and members of the audience, stories of her own sex-life gone wrong, and perhaps the filthiest cabaret number I’ve ever seen. Again, don’t go if any of that may offend you. But if you’re willing to lean into it, you will have an endless amount of fun. I had a smile on my face from beginning to end.
The highlight of the show, in my opinion, was the audience participation. Aunty Ginger has an amazing ability to get everyone in the audience involved without truly embarrassing them. Well, if you’re willing to go along with it that is. I was asked how I would respond to a celebrity worrying that they only enjoy illegal sex. A friend of mine sitting in the front row had her outfit made fun of. It’s all done in very good spirits and makes everything so much more enjoyable. Aunty Ginger manages to excellently walk the line between poking fun at the audience, and genuinely insulting them. I can’t imagine anyone came away feeling remotely hurt. In fact, many male members of the audience may have had their ego boosted as she asked them back to her hotel room!
In short, while this show isn’t exactly breaking new ground, it hits all the beats you look for in a drag show. Aunty Ginger is stylish, sharp-tongued, and scandalous. If you’re looking for a more risqué show in the evening, have a couple of drinks then head over to Assembly, George Square Studios, and take in this hilarious hour of outrageous comedy. Aunty Ginger won’t disappoint.
