Description

'You ever do anything again, And I’ll follow you to the end of the world. Like a ghost. Like your dead ancestors… World’s on fire.' Jon has lost his daughter. Tim can't leave his office. Kate is just trying to get through the day. Three stories of escapism and revolt interweave in this vivid new work. Fusing multimedia and spoken word, Holy Land is an excavation of the dark side of the internet and human nature. Who’s accountable for what happens? How much control do we have? And how much can we take?

A disturbing, but deeply thought-provoking premise. Fast-paced script delivered with incredible energy and intensity leaves the audience reeling - it stayed with me long after the performance finished. Superb performances from a trio of very talented actors - not for the faint-hearted but I would thoroughly recommend seeing this remarkable piece of theatre.

Due to work pressures I have not been able to attend as many shows as I would like this year. This means I have to look for the cream of the theatre productions and avoid the possible misfires. 'Holy Land' is an example of a small show that ticks all of the boxes. Without a doubt the best thing I have not only saw this year, but up there with the best of what I have saw since I started attending the Festival in 1981. I hope there is a rush to see this production before the end of the Festival. The actors, the play and the production were all to a high standard. I was mesmerised.

Tim runs the website Holy Land. He’s made it his business to display suffering and violence, for people to do what they want with it. The play unfolds as a striking story of three people confronted with senseless evil.Matthew Gouldesbrough’s script is punchy, thought-out and clever. He is most effective...
