Description
In this biographical burlesque, a confessional cabaret, Phillipe will sing and dance you through his boyhood on the Broadway stage, teenage nights in the discos of Hollywood, 20 years in a New Age cult, and a surprising midlife career as an erotic masseur, while investigating through song the wild history of sex workers as portrayed in musical theatre. Moving, provocative and hilarious, Hi Ho is an intimate journey you won't soon forget. Please note that while all media gallery content is provided by verified members of the event, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe Society does not review or approve this content before it is posted. This show is jaw-dropping good. I was on the edge of my seat, fully engaged in the story as it was revealed. The storytelling is striking. You will feel it in your gut and in your heart.
Phillipe presents this hour of personal storytelling through a mixed media approach - including a mix of monologues, storytelling, comedy, acting out scenes, and mashing in musical medleys from dozens of Broadway songs. As he reveals his life story, Phillipe also reveals himself - in a performance that is candid and vulnerable in every way. His perspective on love and physical contact is unique and thought-provoking. I was rooting for him at every turn.
This story is one man's experience coming out as gay in a specific time and place. At the same time, it's one piece of the larger human narrative - both of our history with homosexuality, and of human emotion in general. As Phillipe recounts his story - including a mix of very difficult moments with glimpses of beauty in between - he does it all powerfully, without a shred of self-pity. He also beautifully pays tribute to those who came before him.
I find myself thinking back on elements of this story days later. Indeed, there are many elements I wanted to hear more about. I hope he continues to write and perform - as there are so many gems in this narrative that need to be heard. Fantastic show - highly recommended!

Phillipe's one man show is fantastic. An intimate look at a life well lived that goes beyond what most people are willing to share. An honest, funny, and entertaining romp that is SO worth seeing. This feels like one of those shows that could easily change your life if you let it. Stunningly brave and delightful.

Tender, raw and provocative this show is an intimate invitation into both the history of the oldest profession in the world, and one mans experience within it. Phillipes deep reverence for women and how they have inspired him in both expression and sexuality is palpable. I was disarmed by the level of permission it offered for all genders to be more of themselves in whatever way was most real for them. While this is technically a performance, it is also real, true life and grit and captivating to witness. We laughed, we cried, we clapped, we hollered and even got ...a lively, moving and memorable night and a *truly brave* show.

I had no idea that listening to another persons journey could touch me so deeply.
Even though many of the experiences Philippe shared were of his encounters with other men, I, as a hetero identified woman found myself relating and seeing myself with new eyes.
Throughout the show I laughed out loud, cried and cheered. I left feeling uplifted.
This show is for anyone who longs for connection and acceptance and is inspired by honesty and intimate sharing.
I plan to see it again!

Philippe is honest, real and relatable. He bring wit and depth to sexuality and does it with high entertainmant. I laughed, got tears in my eyes and took a new look at myself with compassion and love.
This is a must see.
